About Annmarie Shenton
Annmarie is an abstract artist who has enjoyed art her whole life and is mainly interested in contemporary and abstract art. Her two favourite artists are Jackson Pollack and Van Gogh because she loves the expressiveness and colours they use. Her technique is holistic, starting with a blank canvas, three to four interesting colours, some basic shapes/movements and the painting evolves from there. Annmarie paints abstracts mostly outside to make it easier to move paint around with freedom. Not only does the canvas get covered but so does her clothes face and hair as well as the surrounding area.
To inform her artwork, Annmarie regularly studies with professional artists in Surrey. Recently, she's been experimenting with digital abstract art and illustration, as well as a unique oil-based abstract portraiture style. In addition to her art, Annmarie also volunteers with the Guildford Art Society, managing their social media presence and helping run the Friday Group.
